On your Shift4Shop powered store, you have the option of controlling what action is taken when your shoppers add an item to their cart. This can be set in the store's Store Settings page. To see this area of the cart software, log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager and, using the left navigation:
Go to Settings > General > Store Settings.
Once there, click on the Checkout tab.
Directly beneath the "Checkout" label, you will see a setting for the store's "Add to Cart Action" with several possible settings. These are:
None
Clicking on "Add to Cart" will add the item to cart. The screen will refresh briefly, but there will be no other indication that the item was added to the cart until the shopper actively goes to the View Cart page.
View Cart
Clicking on "Add to Cart" will add the item to cart and take the shopper directly to the View Cart page.
Checkout
Clicking on "Add to Cart" will add the item to cart and take the shopper directly to the first checkout page.
QuickCart
Clicking on "Add to Cart" will add the item to cart and display a pop-out representation of the View Cart
For the purpose of this article, we will discuss the QuickCart option.
With QuickCart enabled, your shoppers will now have a quick preview of the cart without ever leaving the product or category pages.
Enabling QuickCart
To enable QuickCart, follow the steps outlined above and select QuickCart and click on the Save button at the top right.
What Your Shoppers Will See
When adding an item to the cart, your shoppers will see a semi-transparent pop-up window that contains a preview of their cart.
From this point, the visitor will be able to edit their cart, continue shopping or proceed to checkout as desired.
