If you have added Shift4Shop's ReTrans Freight Connector Add-on and have received confirmation that it has been installed, you may use the following information to complete your store's integration.
Adding Credentials
The first step in the process will involve adding your ReTrans Freight account credentials to your Shift4Shop store. To begin this process:
Log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager.
Go to Settings > Shipping and click on the Enter Settings button beneath Shipping Settings.
In the Carrier section, you should now see a section for your newly installed ReTrans Freight module.
To Continue:
4. Click on the Show Credentials link located on the far right of the ReTrans Freight listing.
5. Enter your Customer ID, Password, and select your store's Default Shipping Class.*
6. Click Save Changes to set your credentials.
Additional Information
*Your Shift4Shop store will always consider the Default Shipping Class when retrieving quotes from your ReTrans Freight account unless another shipping class is entered at an individual product level.
For example, if the shipping class for all of your products is 200, then select 200 as the default shipping class and the system is ready to go. However, if your store contains products with a variety of shipping classes, these can be entered on each individual product using the "Custom Field 1" area of each specific product. If this is the case, you may select any shipping class from the provided drop-down menu.
Please see the rest of this article for information on customizing your product's shipping classes individually as needed.
Adding Shipping Method
The next step in our process will be to add the actual shipping method that your store will use to get/post shipping quotes to the orders. To begin this process:
Go to Settings > Shipping and click on the Select Methods button underneath Shipping Methods.
Click +Add Methods" under ReTrans Freight.
Configure the applicable country and state that the method will apply.
Place a mark in the Freight checkbox.
Click +Add when finished to save your newly added ReTrans Freight Shipping method.
More general information on adding shipping methods can be found here.
Configuring your Products
When adding your products to your store, there are just two basic areas to consider for ReTrans Freight services; the product's weight and custom fields for individual product Shipping Classes. For the purposes of this guide, we will assume you already know how to add products to your store. However, if you require assistance on this topic, please see the note below.
As mentioned, one consideration to make on your products is the product's weight. To view your product,
Log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager.
Go to Products > Product List.
Select the item you want to configure and click on its thumbnail image, name, or ID to open it up.
The product's "Information Tab" will display. Within this tab, there is a section labeled "Shipping Options," and it will be located right below the product's Pricing information area.
Be sure to enter your weight for the product as a standard weight number (i.e., total pounds.)
4. Click Save at the top right to commit your changes.
Product Specific Shipping Classes
At the start of this guide, we explained that you can either use a global (default) shipping class for all of your products or otherwise use individual shipping classes for each of your products as needed.
For example, the majority of your products may have a Shipping Class of 50, whereas a few of your products require higher shipping class designations like 200.
To add a product-specific shipping class, add the shipping class number to the product's Custom Field section. The specific field you'll want to enter is "Field: 1" and it will override whatever the store's default Shipping Class is set to when the item is contained in the cart.
Store Front
Once your store's ReTrans Freight Integration is complete and you have your configurations in order, here is how the functionality will appear to your shoppers.
Shopper adds freight specific item to cart.
Proceeds to checkout*.
3. Freight Shipping quotes are returned.
Upon the initial call of the page, the returned shipping quote will quote LTL shipping for Residential, Limited Access and truck with Lift Gate Required. However, your shoppers will then have the option of selecting their specific location requirements (Delivery appointments, construction sites, sites with port or dock, sites without, etc).
After selecting their options, your shoppers are then instructed to click on the refresh link to calculate the correct shipping rates for their freight orders.
Additional Information
Order Data - When viewing orders placed using ReTrans Freight, your orders will contain the LTL options selected above in the order's respective Comments section all the way at the bottom.
